dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.worksto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How much data do you require before you accept something as "fact"?2·14 hours agoWhen a lot of people who have nothing to do with each other say the same thing.
When people who dedicate their life to this one thing say the same.
When I can come to the same conclusion based on the reasoning behind it
When it is repeatable.
Then I going to accept it as a fact otherwise it is just something someone has said.

dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.worksto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What if the idea of “life” and “intelligent life” is all relative?3·1 day agoI think about the same stuff lately.
How we live on a planet like microbes live on our eyes.
How our body is made out of a bunch of cells and that those cells could all have an idea of a self but still are so influenced by their surrounding that they act like they should.
That the planet could be an Organismus with a conciseness so vastly different from ours that we can’t even entertain the idea that it exists.
That small things have a faster life cycle and maybe experience time slower than bigger things.
Just that endless recursion of life existing as part of other life. That we all are building blocks for something bigger and at the same time made out of smaller life.
Maybe we are to the universe what gut bacteria is to our stomach?
Can someone explain to me why this is funny?
Art imitates life.
dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.workstoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•Spain is not a real placeEnglish2·3 days agoMy point is that people equate nationality to a race. So when they are talking negative about a nationality they are indeed racist by the standart of common speech.
If we get scientific and say people are only racist when they talk negative about a race, then the thing falls apart because there is just the human race.
I’m arguing that not just physical appearance is a race in the minds of people, as you say, but nationality too.

It is more like an emulation hub where you can manage different consoles (n64, Dreamcast etc.) and Roms and settings.
It is also on steam. At least it was, last I looked.
For me it’s when I lay down I become active and want to do all the things, but when I get up I become sleepy again. It’s awful.
