Summary

Trump and Vance urged Republicans to force a government shutdown instead of passing a bipartisan stopgap funding bill, accusing Democrats of pushing “giveaways” and rejecting a debt ceiling increase.

The move against the stopgap funding bill comes less than 3 days before the government is set to run out of money on Friday.

Their stance follows Elon Musk’s social media threats to fund primary challengers against Republicans who support the bill.

The funding package, which includes disaster relief and farm aid, faces opposition, with critics warning this move could disrupt essential services.

Musk has suggested the government remain closed until Trump takes office in January.

Yeah but they don’t get paid while it’s shutdown.

Except they do. They still get pay and the government still processes revenue. The government shutdowns have been, “we aren’t doing shit for you, but you still have to pay up!”

Yeah, my bad. I must have misremembered that or confused it with something else.
