Duke Nukem doesn’t really fit in the modern world, except as the poster boy of toxic masculinity. As much as I like the OG games for the gameplay, I don’t see the character working now unless they change him dramatically.

Agree. I have such a soft spot for Duke 3D, though.

Idea: Duke gets woke and goes on a cop killing rampage redemption arc???

i love the new headcanon duke that the internet has developed after the games. he’s still a rabid womanizer, but he’s wizened with age and become a supportive womanizer. “nobody messes with our chicks and lives” applies to all women. trans women are women because hey, more chicks is always good. and trans men? hell yeah, who wouldn’t want to be like duke?

That could work. They could also pull some Serious Sam updates. There’s some subtly in SS4’s writing that’s quite nice.

Like having a completely normal conversation with a lesbian couple or prefering a power up item to a kiss, slightly taken the womaan aback.

Apparently the Duke Nukem Forever DLC that no one played had a femme fatale barking orders at him that kept Duke true, but shifted the power dynamic around.

I dunno, it was pretty over the top back then already. Just lean into it, put him across some ultra feminist and let them both grow from it. Similar to Austin Powers. I think Civvie said something along those lines in his DN Forever video.

you made me watch a film length amount of yt videos, I didn’t catch the Austin powers thing.

I did hear something that sounded like it was out of JazzPunk though https://youtu.be/HZht1yRZ4Yg?t=1342

Same could be said for doom guy really. They just need to cut back on toxic masculinity and add more brutal killing.

Same could be said for Doom Guy really

The guy whose only known bits of lore are that he punched out his commanding officer after being ordered to murder innocent civilians, so he was sent to the shitty Mars posting as punishment where he then had to fight all of literal Hell to escape back to Earth, where demons had taken over and, worst of all, killed his pet rabbit, so he went on a new mission to destroy every last demon in Hell out of revenge? Who never utters a single word or really shows any kind of personality?

        That Doom Guy?

Maybe referring to Flynn Taggart in the novels? Haven’t read any doom in a while, I must confess…

They could pull a Spec Ops: The Line, and use the franchise flag to pull a masterful writing twist that analyzes the original gluttony in a confrontational way.
