  • I think one thing that was trickier for me on linux than windows was mounting a network share from my server to my laptop. I had to search online what to do, after I figured out how to edit fstab it was pretty simple but if I didnt already know how to edit a file with something like nano or how to change directories in the terminal it would have seemed way more complicated, then again the fact that Im mounting a nas share is already well beyond most peoples use case and already means I have the knowledge to look up what I want to do. I think in order to jump to linux you have to be wanting to not deal with enshitification so you are willing to put a little effort to get away from bigger annoying problems, or if they are just handed a linux machine and all they really need is the browser and you are there for any questions then it works

  • Yeah it gets deep, I eventually made it 3d as I learned more but to start i just wanted to be able to use the line too, click and point it towards a direction and type in the measurement.

Later I got fancy raising the walls up and adding textures like wood floor and windows etc in the downloads someone even created the network switch and router I use so I started planning my server rack.

I used the free 2017 version since I could use my PC resources and not rely on the cloud or subscription

  • I took up learning some sketchup when we moved into our place. Just basic top down 2d drawings.

I went around the house with some grid paper and tape measurer and made a outline of all the rooms then recreated it in sketchup, then drew a box for each furniture and moved them around the area until we found something we liked. And gave the most open space

  • I like them both, to me starfield just feels like a newer fallout 4, but I also like space and the guns, but at the same time after playing oblivion a ton in highschool all bethesda games just feel like the same thing with a bit less. at least with fallout and starfield you could build up bases and stuff, ive actually been replaying oblivion remastered a ton since I havent really gamed in a long time just because its so familiar but new at the same time after all these years
