Glad to see Crimson Viper come back, I thought she was going to be a new series mainstay after being in both Street Fighter 4 and Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
The trailer was definitely unexpected. :D

I’m wondering if the fediverse in general (but especially Lemmy) would benefit from some kind of “fediverse help wanted” board for moderators, donations, technical help, etc.
edit: People who run a Lemmy/Mbin/Piefed/etc instance might be hanging out in the Matrix chat room for the software they are running; that might already serve this purpose.
I’ve never actually used it, but Faircamp caught my eye a while ago. https://simonrepp.com/faircamp/
I’m not sure if you can create a blog with it – it might only be for showcasing your music, no text posts. It definitely looks nice, though.
One popular way was that Internet Explorer 6 included something called ActiveX, which basically allowed any website to run code on your computer as though it was a locally-installed program. You could just click on some URL and next thing you know it’s writing files to your hard drive. This is one of the main reasons why the Internet Explorer 6 / Windows XP era was particularly virus-filled. A website could open your freaking CD tray.
From the ActiveX wikipedia page:
Developers had to register with Verisign (US$20 per year for individuals, $400 for corporations) and sign a contract, promising not to develop malware.
Promising not to. And they did it anyway. The bastards.
The ship section is just going to be the entirety of Skull and Bones, bolted on to this game. It’ll just swap the entire game to the Skull and Bones executable. They will recuperate their money on that game! It’s only a failure if you give up!
Gotcha. The web UI in wallabag is nice and works pretty well with ereaders. It’s already black-and-white, although it doesn’t have pagination, so you’ll have to scroll.
I’ve been using Wallabag for a few years now and really like it. (It’s the one thing I’m not selfhosting, though – I’ve been using their hosted service. But it should run on a raspberry pi with no problems.)
You can also export to epub, but you have to do that manually. OP, does your ereader run android? There are wallabag apps available, which are nice because they usually work offline after downloading articles from your wallabag server.
If you really liked the interactions between the characters, honestly I think The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog did that better than any of the other games did. If that’s the main appeal for you, you’ve already played the best one. I haven’t read the comics myself, but like others have mentioned, that’s probably what you’re looking for.
Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 feature many of the same characters as The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, but the dialog isn’t really as polished. It’s an English translation of a Japanese game at a time when they were still trying to figure out how to do cutscenes in 3D Sonic games. But based on your criteria, I’d say those are a good starting point, though. They’re both on Steam. (The first game is called Sonic Adventure DX because it has the “upgraded” graphics that many fans think is actually a downgrade in art style. There are mods to change things back to their original look. I think this SADX mod installer installs all of them for you.)
Sonic X Shadow Generations has many of the levels from Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, but lacks the same cutscenes and characters. The gameplay is great, though.
And if you liked the OST, then you’ll definitely like the music in the 2D games, especially Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic Mania.
When Redis messed with their licensing terms a while ago, I thought to myself, “which project that I rely on will be next?” And I kept thinking it was going to be Minio.
So I switched from Minio to Garage a few months ago and it has worked great. I used the AWS cli to start copying everything over one evening, and when I woke up the next day, it was done. My S3 use is just one giant bucket for my music collection in Funkwhale, so I only had the one command to run. After updating the S3 urls in Funkwhale’s configuration, everything was good to go.
This has all made me start paying closer to attention to what kind of organization is behind the various open source projects that I use. Garage is made by a web development shop in France – they might even be a coop, or I might be thinking of someone else. I could be wrong about that last part. But they’re definitely not a VC-backed operation like Minio.
Yeah, a few years ago they advertised themselves as the perfect storage solution for blockchain projects.
Whoa, thanks for the heads up. Sifu has been on my list for a while now.
I believe Gateway is owned by Dan’s Used Tires, a guy that sells tires out of the back of his pickup truck.
I think it has those. The phrasing in the article is weird, but it says those are real 5.25" drive bays, not just for looks.
As soon as I saw this I thought, “I’d like to have a horizontal one, like a Mac or Compaq from 1995.” Turns out, the second sentence says that’s what they did last year. (https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/pc-cases/retro-beige-pc-case-goes-from-april-fools-joke-to-retail-silverstones-sleeper-pc-with-modern-internals-ships-in-q1-2025)
I think it looks great, especially the horizontal one. Lately I’ve been thinking about putting my current parts into a new case so that I can add a DVD drive. I still have a lot of games from 1999 - 2010ish that are on discs, and I’d like to be able to actually use them.
Also, my gaming PC is in my living room, like a console. A horizontal case would be perfect for that.
What you are referring to as pedantry, is in fact, semantics/pedantry.
Games on medium settings from eight years ago still look amazing in my opinion. Plus, sticking to the older hardware is great way to finally play those games that you bought because they were on sale for $3 that you never even installed. (Don’t we all have a few dozen of those?)
In case anyone misread the headline the way I did: The PS5 is selling about the same as the PS4 did at this point in its lifespan. The headline kind of makes it sound like the PS4 is still selling as many consoles as the PS5 today.
Honestly, I’m kind of surprised that it’s selling that well at all, considering how much of this generation has just been remasters of PS4 games.
The first two Sonic kart racing games were good, but I heard that the third one was a step down from the first two. (I’ve only played the first two myself.) I liked the fact that the first games had split screen for couch multiplayer on PC – that’s not common.
