on mint cinnamon, mullvad app prevents auto-suspending and screen timeout, idk if it does that on other distros. spent a full year troubleshooting and lost most of my hair and will to live. accidentally found the solution after switching to ivpn because it became impossible to watch youtube with mullvad

i couldn’t set it up and it went a little beyond my understanding why, but apparently it’s a paid feature. i don’t necessarily love thubderbird either, but it does its job for me

my beef with proton mail is that i can’t use it on thunderbird and their android app doesn’t have notifications (at least without google spy services.)

for me it was that i was able to play with friends. i don’t have any, but if i did, we would’ve had some fun with heists.

got my mom and sister to switch our group chat to element, but after a month they decided it sucks and now they love whatsapp more than ever…

but still nobody is going to switch. whenever i try to convince people to switch, they just defend whatsapp and I’m a whiner

also you can’t have both: ctrl+c and alt+tab… and whoever designed that screenshot app needs to be put down slowly and painfully. Edit: and that fking scrolling. not only the stupid inertia but “natural scrolling” is inverted between the touchpad and a real mouse.

according to https://linux-hardware.org/ your MB is supported on mint 22.1 too, the problem may be that default kernel is 6.8, though 6.11 is available if you can get far enough to change it. also you can get even newer kernels manually. another version of this MB has been probed only in fedora so far. fedora is faster with the updates, you could have better luck with that. ubuntu always has been a nightmare for me with every machine I’ve tried it on, would not recommend.

if you’re getting igpu instead of the real one, which one did you plug your monitor into? do not use the motherboard hdmi or dp, use the gpu ones. also, disable the igpu from bios.

I use onlyoffice too, but are there other foss options? It’s just terrible all around. Like you can’t even copy and paste text in the writer, formulas don’t work for no good reason in spreadsheets, and the android app crashes so often you can’t make one formula and get it saved before it craps out. Libreoffice is perfect, but I need the cloud 😅 at this point I’m considering paid options or just crawling back to google
