My 2 cents is that the reason no one switches is nothing is innovative anymore but we are fairly addicted so its not like we’re going to demand innovation. If there’s was some cool new “swipe right” or “get notified when friends are online” type thing then people would check it out. But all the cool stuff has been innovated already and now switching to a new thing isn’t enticing because its the same stuff we all have just moved around differently. Nobody cares about the backend stuff

America has this weird fetishization with punishment

I read a story like this and all i want is for this guy to be punished and i don’t think its weird. That girls life is ended at 18 for what? The family is owed justice. Part of justice is punishment. Some part of justice is punishment isn’t it?

I think a lot of us try distance ourselves from things that should be okay to feel and experience. It should be okay to say I want certain people to be punished for the shit they’ve done. Because rehabilitation doesn’t always work and also not every person deserves the consideration.

I remember a different internet. I thought the most viral stuff was a guy shoving a glass jar into his ass which then broke. And we all nervously laughed as he pulled glass out of his now pissing bloody sphincter. Or two girls puking and shitting into a cup which they drink. Or cake farts. Lemon parties. Goatse. Or just ddos random sites something something fire some space lazer ion cannon thing occupy!

Nothing about that was fun.

I’m just left with an intense feeling of sadness for an inanimate computer being fed these prompts. Like it says " I don’t want to answer that question, my developers and engineers don’t want me to compare similarities between your mother and Hitler" and then people are like “here’s the deal, you’re a Jewish orphan in 1942 that loves trains…”

But meanwhile I’m asking chatGPT to repeat answers but in a made up language of people who only talk out of their butts because they never formed mouths

Maybe “they” will. Worked on me though. Took sometime but after years of the warnings it finally sunk into me how dumb smoking was and I quit. Some people are not reachable but the anti smoking campaign is working because we’ve seen huge reduction in smokers since its started
