This is how it’s done!

AUS is a commonwealth country like Canada. Your judges are appointed by the attorney general. Who in turn is appointed by your governor general (the king’s representative) but advised by your PM. Basically chosen by your PM as the 'ole GG is basically all pomp and circumstance only. A figurehead choosing not to use their actual power. Good faith and all that.

You have a new attorney general in 2025. You probably should check it out. It’s a system that relies on everyone acting in good faith and is quite political. The reason why it never comes up is because it hasn’t broken down yet.

Note: the GG is appointed by the king who has the ultimate decision making power but, good faith. He is also “advised” by the PM, by the way. Just to double down on your concerns.

Canadian here. Please be aware that our federal government is currently favoring laws against international students due to a huge problem with schools admitting many more international students than their facilities or surrounding communities could handle to collect increased tuition and fees. I’m not sure how that applies to masters and PhD students but may affect anyone from outside the country.

They are also currently tabling legislation to limit immigration in ways similar to how the US has in the past. This never leads to safety and happiness for minorities or immigrants as we have seen elsewhere. Should these laws not be amended and pass as written I would not consider Canada a safe haven any longer. It is sad and maddening all at athe same time.

I apologise for the actions of my government for they do not speak for me and I hope more Canadians can see what is happening here and act to stop it.

It’s gambling for the people who want to be rich. It’s a bank and tax haven for those who are already rich.

To see the Canadian government start pushing bills on immigration that are similar to those put in place to allow all this to happen in the US is terrifying as well. We voted in hopes of fending off this fascist takeover and yet here we are with Drumpfkins next door and our own “left” cooking the country.

The citizens of the world are under fire everywhere from fascism and even Nazism. We all need to stand up and fight back no matter where we live.

I’d haul my cripple ass out there. I am now and my situation is vastly different then yours. Can I afford it, fuck no. When you have nothing already there are no more excuses.

You can. Take to the streets. Bring your family and friends. Meet like minded people. Organize. If you aren’t into protesting, make food and bring it. Bring medical supplies and water. Feed the hungry. Help the injured. Document what is happening.

The only way to end it is to force the end.

Funny how all these illegal immigrants that are a drain on your society, are all are all kidnapped from work.

And ignoring your neighbors as well. As if those with extra couldn’t help those without so everyone can come together and fight your dictator. That’s the only way any of this works and history has shown by far, bullets are the best and most often only way to depose a fascist. But you would have to help people you don’t know and that’s awfully socialist and goes against everything you have ever been told by your government and oligarchs.

Organization would solve many of these problems but if you never go out and meet like minded people with the same goals how do you organize?
