There’s an application that I think LLMs would be great for, where accuracy doesn’t matter: Video games. Take a game like Cyberpunk 2077, and have all the NPCs speech and interactions run on various fine-tuned LLMs, with different LoRA-based restrictions depending on character type. Like random gang members would have a lot of latitude to talk shit, start fights, commit low-level crimes, etc, without getting repetitive. But for more major characters like Judy, the model would be a little more strictly controlled. She would know to go in a certain direction story-wise, but the variables to get from A to B are much more open.

This would eliminate the very limited scripted conversation options which don’t seem to have much effect on the story. It could also give NPCs their own motivations with actual goals, and they could even keep dynamically creating side quests and mini-missions for you. It would make the city seem a lot more “alive”, rather than people just milling about aimlessly, with bad guys spawning in preprogrammed places at predictable times. It would offer nearly infinite replayability.

I know nothing about programming or game production, but I feel like this would be a legit use of AI. Though I’m sure it would take massive amounts of computing power, just based on my limited knowledge of how LLMs work.

Staw man/Fantasy: Guy telling a random woman on the street, who happens to be married, “I wouldn’t even date you”. The strong and independent woman answers with sarcasm.

This is one of the most prominent parts of manosphere ideology, and they are not quiet about it or shy about sharing it. We used to call it “negging”. This comic is pointing out the absurdity of toxic men thinking they are too good for most women.

Reality: The woman is a single mother with 10+ past partners who has failed to secure a good father for her child.

I have no idea what the reality is for this cartoonist, nor do I care, but you’ve managed to make three misogynistic value judgments in one short sentence, which is kind of impressive in a sad and pathetic way. First, there’s nothing inherently wrong with being a single mother. Second, a woman’s worth is not determined by the number of past partners she’s had, a standard which is never applied to men. Third, securing a good father for her child is not the be-all-end-all goal of a single mother. Raising her child(ren) is. This can be done with or without a man involved.

This is not a defense of particular internet personalities, who may or may not deserve criticism on their own.

Maybe not, but it sure comes off as an endorsement of their values.

Rather, it’s to point out that these comics are stupid, and don’t address valid criticism that’s out there that need to be addressed properly.

So a comic strip didn’t address sexism in the specific way that you approve of, and you think the proper response is to degrade the cartoonist as a whorish single mother who can’t find a good man?

Every UBI study shows how successful the idea is, but it’s ultimately a bad system, because all it will ever be is another form of Capitalism. What makes UBI successful is that people no longer have to struggle (as much) to pay rent and feed themselves while pursuing more worthy endeavors. If you read between the lines of every UBI success story, you find that money is just a middle man, an unnecessary toll booth between people and progress.

The real solution here is to guarantee a standard of living to people that includes housing, food, education and healthcare, without involving the exchange of money at all, because as long as these things are commodified, Capitalism will always find a way to provide as little of them as possible while charging as much as possible for them.
