California is full of people who are Mexican immigrants and people who have lived here since it was Mexico. ‘Stop waving Mexican flags after Mexican Americans and Latinos in general were kidnapped off the street’ is stupid and every minute spent focusing on making protestors protest in a way which will satisfy everyone—which, what do you know, just happens to be a fool’s errand that will result in support from nobody—is a minute you could have been telling ICE and the LAPD to fuck off instead.

Go have this fight with someone that wants to have it and didn’t make it clear that kind of behavior isn’t alright. Maybe somewhere other than on a thread about cops threatening to come assault protesters in their homes.

Interesting that a Californian making a callous comment about living in hurricane country is somehow equivalent to the conservative media industry absolutely cheering bloodshed any time natural disasters strike us. 🙄 If California celebrated like this any time, much less every time, a natural disaster hit somewhere else it would have its own dedicated conservative channel playing it on loop.

Unironically, cows are great indicators of what’s normal in fields and pastures. They’re up over there investigating ICE because they’ve never seen them or their vehicles before.

During WWII there are stories of both sides having issues in rural France because milk cows would come up to their hiding spots, crying to be milked (going unmilked is painful for dairy cows).

Anyone who thinks there needs to be more American flags at the protests is welcome to bring them along with themselves. But sitting here criticizing the people actually off their ass and trying to protect democracy and their neighbors is bullshit.

Further, the right is literally never going to see resistance to Trump positively. Anyone who has been on the Fox News drip for the past 20 years is so unhinged that living in California is a crime to them. Asking people whose neighbors and family members have been kidnapped by the federal government to hide their heritage in their protests because it might offend people that already hate them and want them gone is ridiculous. At least if you want to keep those people as allies.

Maxine Waters has been down here and having her entry to the ICE facility barred. If others have been involved I haven’t heard of it.

The situation might be a little more urgent than who can win a 5 year long lawsuit. That’s like trying to deal with a house fire by filing insurance paperwork. Yeah, it needs to be done, but it’s hardly the only or most pressing thing to do.
