Update: We broke this news over the weekend from a lucky catch on Reddit, but the Washington Post and TechCrunch are expanding on it, citing anonymous sources. They report that 10% of the NHTSA employees have been cut, which would be about 80 staffers, with especially heavy cuts for the employees in the new office overseeing autonomous vehicle safety.
Doing something like that late on Friday is a deliberate tactic. It’s to avoid news cycles and / or fuck with the persons weekend.
So is there going to be anyone left after this? At this rate the government is going to fall apart in a few weeks

I agree they will snap, but what is the purpose of so many cuts so quickly? I don’t see another explanation. Failures in execution are to be expected from this group.
To show that the system isn’t working and needs to be privatized to run more efficiently. And then replace previously functioning government-run organizations with private ones owned by their friends
