Yeah it sucks for everyone affected, but I voted against the idiot that wanted to do it. However, quite a few others voted for him - against their own interests - and won’t listen to reason. Medicaid is usually considered part of that “third rail” of politics - touch it and you get electrocuted politically, but here we are.

I first heard it in the US in 2006 and had to ask what it meant.
Oh god. I started with Slackware in 1998 and used it on the desktop until around 2008, then on the server until 2017 or so.
In later years, the last panel definitely felt like Slackware. I was afraid to upgrade for fear of breaking things. Installing new software was tough because it was like, well, I need this dependency for that package, but what about this one? Will I break package A if I install the dependencies for package B? Only one way to find out!
Slackware is probably much easier to handle now, with the proliferation of docker and the like, where the software includes the libraries it needs and doesn’t rely on the system libraries. Just run everything in a container.
I do not understand why Windows lets windows steal focus like that. I have to use Windows for work, and I’ll be typing in my password or token, and it’ll steal the focus WHILE I’M TYPING. It’s infuriating behavior and potentially a security issue.
Interesting concept. I have a script that uses long term tokens and curl to tell HA to turn on certain things I need before running a certain game, then turns them back off afterward. Presumably this could take the place of that script.
It’s an interesting idea, I wonder what other ideas people will have once it’s working.
I just wish I could get my script to disable the screensaver in KDE. I have the command that should do it, and it’s changing the right setting (ie, changing the same setting manually in the gui works correctly), but it seems like KDE isn’t aware of the config change, and the things I’ve tried to get KDE to reload that config aren’t working. No error, but the screen saver stays active.

I’m pretty sure my neighbor has one of those Buicks. It’s definitely a GM SUV of that era, in white. We’ve lived here for 8 years, and it has been sitting in the driveway the entire time that I recall. I’ve never seen it moved at all.
I don’t think the people that own the house actually live there full time. I see them only rarely, so I think they live elsewhere, and this is their second home. They have a second bland GM SUV parked in the driveway when they are here.
For a long time I thought the two SUVs were the exact same model, just different colors, for near-maximum blandness.

I had an endoscopy a few years back, and the first step in preparing is to take a bunch of laxatives. I followed the directions and took 6 pills or whatever it said, then my wife said, “Well, do you want to go shopping or something?”
“NO! I just took a bunch of laxatives!” I have no idea what she was thinking.

I’m not disputing that he’s dangerous, but I’m pretty sure his comments are mostly driven by wanting to sell Oracle licenses. Which somehow makes it worse.
I saw that tour with Billy Joel and Elton John, too. To date, still one of the best concerts I’ve been to. Face to Face. Wish they’d done a DVD of it!

I say, bring on the tariffs, too. Yep, it’s going to suck for a lot of people. But that’s apparently the only way anyone is going to learn. Not Trump fans; I don’t expect them to learn a damn thing, as a group. But the rest of the country will hopefully learn why voting for Trump was a bad idea and maaaaaybe give a bit more thought to the next election, assuming there is one.
